Annoying "Blip" sound when laptop screen is closed
I have an HP HDX16 Laptop running on Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit. I have my power settings set so that when I close the screen to the laptop it does nothing (stays on, doesn't sleep/hibernate). When the screen is closed, the laptop constantly makes this "blip" sound which is quite annoying. Especially when I'm trying to sleep. I then have to get up and mute the laptop so I don't hear it. Any ideas as to what is causing the sound and how to fix it?

Hello,You remove the sound setting by the following steps:1. Click start button->control panel->Hardware and Sound->Change system Sounds2. Locate the Sleep Item and then set the sound to none.Thomas77

That option regards speech recognition, not the actual sleep activity. I think the sound the user is hearing is the switch user/logoff sounds. If this was helpful, please vote by clicking the green triangle. If it solves the issue, click Propose as Answer. Thanks!

None of the responses led to the actual problem although Thomas_77 did help point me in the direction that led to the solution. From Thomas_77's suggestion, I was able to figure out what the sound was from. The fingerprint reader "bad read" sound. Disabling the sound in the "Change System Sounds" menu did nothing. That led me to change the preferences in the actual finger print reader program which resolved the issue. Thanks for the help.
